Our Business.


Precious and Pleasant is a brick-and-mortar business, founded in Nov 2002 by the grace of God. Because we are small, we work harder to please our customers. We operate differently than most boutiques, focusing on special orders, and often taking our products for “in home ordering” to the customers who have created profiles. Thus, it is imperative that you call for an appointment to ensure we are present before visiting our store. You may place internet orders at any time. You may also fax orders to our 24-hour Info/Fax line. Please be aware that stock changes rapidly, and though we make every effort to update the site in a timely manner, some times your product will have sold before your payment clears. We operate on a “first paid, first served” basis.

Orders.


There are several ways to contact us or place your order. We prefer that you pay via PayPal, but we can also process your personal credit card, using either our secure shopping cart. The shopping cart page which collects your credit card information is secure. You may also email your order, but you MUST provide a daytime phone number so we may obtain credit card info over the phone. Orders are not shipped until payment is received and clears. For security, if you really desire to email your credit card number, send it as a picture file (bmp, jpg, gif, etc) created in a picture program and not as a text file. This will help prevent theft of your number.

YOUR CARD WILL NOT BE CHARGED UNTIL YOUR ITEM IS IN STOCK. HOWEVER, YOUR CARD WILL BE CHARGED BEFORE ITEMS ARE SHIPPED FROM THE MANUFACTURER

Returns.


Precious and Pleasant has one of the most generous return policies in the business. Most online high-end boutiques will tell you that “all sales are final,” and won’t even refund your lay-a-way money if the suit goes out of stock with the manufacturer! Not so here. First of all, we inspect all garments prior to shipping to ensure that your item is in perfect condition. Anything less will not be shipped, except with approval. If your item is not acceptable, we will refund the purchase price (including shipping) as long as the item is postmarked within 3 days of receipt, all tags are attached, and the item is clearly not worn or soiled. ANY wear or soil will result in a partial refund. There are no returns on “Dent and Bent” or other merchandise that is clearly advertised as damaged.

Wholesale.


Precious and Pleasant now offers wholesale pricing on bulk orders. We will sell you items at the catalog price plus shipping, provided you meet the minimums. Minimum purchase of childrens items is $300. Minimum purchase on women’s items is $1000. You may mix and match styles within “genres.” Only paid orders will be processed. You do NOT need to provide a state sales tax number, however, orders placed without the state sales tax number will be assessed 10% tax and handling. Wholesale orders MUST be paid in full before we will order from the manufacturer.

Sizes.


Children’s clothing is fairly standard, but manufactures of women’s clothing appear to size their garments at whim. Please read carefully the description on the sizes page. Most manufacturers tend to cut all of their suits the same way. For example, “Ben Marc” is cut more full in the upper body than in the lower. “Donna Vinci” is cut to more of an hourglass shape. If you are unsure whether a particular line will suit your figure, we recommend that you call us for advice or visit your nearest local boutique and try items from various designers. This will also give you a feel for what size you wear in that line, and will tell you if a company’s garments run big, small, etc. Click HERE for clothing sizes and HERE for bra sizing.

Privacy.


We respect your privacy to the utmost! We use your information only for filling orders and sending out information related to our business. We hate SPAM, as you’ll see noted on many of our pages, and we NEVER provide your personal information to anyone outside of Precious and Pleasant. SPAM actually costs us time and money due to spam automatically sent to email addresses published to this site. Do not be alarmed if your shopping cart appears unsecured: At time of purchase, your credit card number will be collected by a secure page built into our shopping cart provider’s algorithm. We are required by law, and by the Lord, to protect your credit card information to the utmost. So, don’t worry. Your information is safe with us.

Shipping.


We have converted to a new shipping structure. Because some orders are small, we now allow you to select shipping by US Postal Service. This greatly reduces your cost, but is not trackable. Though we have never lost a shipment, we highly suggest you take advantage of our trackable shipping options (UPS ground, Overnight) or, if you are in the Shreveport-Bossier area that you make arrangements to pick up your order in person.

FAQ.



1. Where did you get the name, “Precious and Pleasant?” The boutique name was taken from Prov 24:3-4 (see below). The Lord doesn’t mind us having beautiful, precious, and pleasant things but He expects us to use wisdom. Why pay $80 for a dress in a boutique when you can get it for $30 here? If our prices seem high, you aren’t looking hard enough! There’s $50 and 30% coupons hidden throughout the site and distributed at major CLGI conventions. Hint: Check the business card for free shipping!

2. How do I know no one else will have my suit? We mitigate this in a couple ways: First, we never sell more than one of the exact same suit– maybe a different color, but not the exact same suit. Though we can’t guarantee that someone else won’t buy your suit in another boutique, there’s so few of each produced that the likelihood of running into yours is very small. Also, we can recommend elite brands that aren’t featured on this site because of high cost and exclusivity.

3. How long will it take to get my suit? It depends: If your suit is on our floor, it takes up to 3 days from the time we receive full payment. If your suit must be ordered from the company, you may have it in a week. Some suits are on backorder, which means the company is sold out but producing another run. This can take up to a month. You will be notified immediately if your suit or dress is sold out or is on backorder. Please be aware that occasionally a designer will cancel a backordered run without notifying the customer. This is why Precious and Pleasant does not charge your card or cash your check until your suit or dress is in stock, unless you authorize us to do so earlier. If you authorize a charge and your item is cancelled by the manufacturer, you will have the option of choosing another style or a complete refund.

4. I came to your boutique and you had a LOT that wasn’t on the website. What gives? Because Precious and Pleasant is a Brick-and-Mortar business that focuses primarily on in-house special orders, the online boutique is not our top priority. Our stock changes rapidly, sometimes we barely get a shipment out of the box and it’s sold. So, while we immediately remove products that have sold, we tend not add new products the site right away. Thus, we strongly recommend you make an appointment, or call us if there’s something you want but don’t see.

5. How do I order if there’s no shopping cart button? First, thank you for your patience as we improve this website. We should have loaded all products, but things move so fast, sometimes we miss one. You can order other items via mail, phone, email, or fax, using the instructions on our contact page. But do let us know– we shouldn't have any products without shopping cart buttons. Thanks.

6. What if my outfit is sold out? You will be notified immediately if your outfit is sold out. At that time, you may either choose an alternate or cancel the order. Precious and Pleasant does not charge your card or cash your check until your suit or dress is in stock, unless you authorize us to do so earlier, or are placing a wholesale order.

7. I’m starting an online boutique. May I use your policies/photos/etc? We swapped ideas and photos from other boutiques when we first got started (one advantage of meeting other boutique owners at the trade shows). So, sure. You may customize our photos/policies/web materials for our use provided you meet the following two criteria: 1. You have permission from the manufacturer to retail their suits (submit invoice or if you don't have an invoice, provide us your buisness license number plus the name of the sales person you are working with. And 2. You give us credit for our work, in a form of a link back to PreciousAndPleasant.com.

8. Remember: we have a first paid, first served policy. If you pay by mail, you risk someone buying your suit out from under you. We strongly recommend you pay by credit card
